Helping relieve the needs of those suffering as a result of Sepsis.

Our Story

Ruby was the most happiest, beautiful and much loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, student and friend.

Ruby was 6 years old when she fell poorly with sickness and tummy pain in October 2024. After not getting any better within a few days, she was taken to A&E. Eventually, it was found that Ruby had a bowel obstruction, caused by some scar tissue following an operation to remove her appendix in March 2024.  Ruby was transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by ambulance to have an operation, which we hoped would be quick and easy. Unfortunately, this wasn’t to be, and Ruby contracted Sepsis and became very, very poorly. Over the following days in the PICU at Addenbrooke’s, Ruby had many operations to try and make her better, but she didn’t wake up from the first operation. On Friday, 11th October, 1 week after she first became sick, Ruby’s Mum & Dad made the most dreadful decision to turn off the machine that was keeping her alive. Ruby was surrounded by love during her time in the hospital, and a lot of her family were able to say goodbye.

We had seen the posters and read the signs, but we didn’t really know what Sepsis was. Over the months following Ruby’s passing, her family have raised so much awareness and money for The UK Sepsis Trust. Some of her family and teachers from her amazing school climbed the National 3 Peaks in May 2025. Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon within 24 hours! There has been a quiz night, a race night, a fun day and some smaller fundraising events at Ruby’s school and within the local community. The support has been amazing.

In setting up The Ruby Rose Foundation, we can ensure that Ruby’s legacy will live on forever.
